Risan

Risan is the small city near Perast in which the queen Teuta had her residence till 167. years B.C. (this was found by the archeologist Sier Artur Evans 1883-85). Archeologists from whole Europe are still finding the traces of Illyrian culture from that period. During the Roman period Risan was important city (opidum civium romanorum) with certain autonomy. From that period of time most interesting are the villas with the floor mosaics such ah the mosaic of the god Hypnos god of the dream, the only of a kind in the world. Near Risan there is a founding with the drawings from Neolith. Risan is known as the place with the biggest cubic rain capacity in Europe.
